It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas all over campus.
Eastern will continue with its Deck the Halls celebration for all of the residents in Charleston and the neighboring areas.
The celebration will be held two different nights inside of the Old Main - from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Six different holiday trees will be on display during the celebration. Five of the trees will feature decorations made by students from five different area elementary schools.
Those participating include Ashmore, Carl Sandburg, Jefferson, Lake Crest and Mark Twain elementary schools.
Cheryll Gilbert, secretary from Ashmore Elementary, said the Ashmore kindergarten class made reindeer, the first grade class made foam trees, the second grade class made bead Christmas trees, the third grade class made presents and the fourth grade class made tin ornaments.
Dorthy Bennett, the art teacher at Jefferson, said her art class made 23 different ornaments out of sculepy clay for its tree.
The Mark Twain art classes, instructed by Jillian Benoit, who is also the art teacher from Ashmore Elementary, made reindeer, snowmen and Santa Clauses for the gathering.
Lake Crest and from Carl Sandburg schools were unavailable for comment.
Parking for the event Wednesday night will be plentiful, since most of the parking lots around campus will be empty of teachers and students.
Those attending the Thursday afternoon celebration should park in parking lot "X," which is located to the east of Old Main.
Accompanying the gathering, holiday music will be played in the building to help get the viewers in the spirit of Christmas. Refreshments will follow.
