Six finalists named for Dean

Six finalists have been named for the dean of the College of Arts and Humanities position.
Among them is Bonnie Irwin, dean of the Honors College at Eastern.
On-campus interviews for the finalists begin Nov. 30.
Up first is Marilyn Levine, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Oregon University in LaGrange, Ore. on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
Levine was trained as a historian of Asia and has graduate degrees from the University of Chicago and the University of Hawaii, according to EOU's Web site. She has published two books, more than four-dozen articles and created a dozen Web sites for research, teaching, professional and community service.
She has obtained and administered more than three-dozen grants to fund research, teaching, and community projects.
Steven Brown, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kans. will be on-campus on Dec. 3 and 4.
Steven Brown has a doctor of philosophy from North Texas State University, and bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from Arkansas State University. Brown has served as consultant for department of music at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma.
Elisabeth Mermann-Jozwiak, associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Texas A & M in Corpus Christi, Texas will visit Dec. 7 and 8.
Mermann-Jozwiak has a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master's degree from the University of Cologne, Germany.
She is also a professor of English.
Irwin's interview is scheduled for Dec. 10 and 11.
Irwin has a PhD in comparative literature from the University of California-Berkeley. She has written publications dealing with higher education honors issues that have appeared in the Journal of the National Collegiate Honors Council. Irwin is also a professor of English and has been at the university since 1994.
Elizabeth Dunn, interim dean of the College of Arts and Letters at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn., will visit Dec. 14 and 15.
Dunn has been a member of BSU's faculty since 1999, when she joined the University as an assistant professor in the history department, according to BSU's university's Web site.
She was promoted to associate professor in 2003 and was the interim chair of the Department of History in 2003-04. Dunn also has been the director of Bemidji State's Center for Professional Development since 2005.
Dunn also co-chairs BSU's 10-Year Higher Learning Commission Self Study for University Re-accreditation.
Roger Smitter, executive director of the National Communication Association in Washington, D.C. from 2004-2009 interviews on-campus Dec. 16 and 17.
The NCA is the largest national organization dedicated to communication. Researchers, educators and professionals work to understand and better all forms of human communication, according to NCA's Web site. Through publications, resources, conferences, conventions and services, NCA contributes to the greater good of education and society.
The campus schedules and an abbreviated vita will be available on the College of Arts and Humanities Web site Tuesday, Nov. 24. The campus community, especially the faculty and staff of the College of Arts and Humanities, are invited to attend the interview sessions.

So... who is currently dean and why are they searching for a replacement. I'm sure the press release you copied this from had that information on it.
