information:
The Embarras Valley Film Festival centers its focus on remembering-remembering the past of this nation through celebrating the legacy of President Abraham Lincoln and the memory of the Civil War.

The Embarras Valley Film Festival is an annual event. The festival was originally titled the Gregg Toland Day Festival which began in 2004 to honor the Charleston native.

Coinciding with the 200th year since Lincoln's birth and playing off the president's ties to Coles County, the Film Festival committee decided this year's theme must be dedicated to Lincoln and The Civil War.

Celebrity speakers Craig Titley, Hollywood screenwriter, Chuck Koplinski, local TV film critic, and Dan Gire, Arlington Heights Daily Herald film critic will give lectures for the festival. Also speaking are Lincoln specialists, war re-enactors and war historians Howard Taylor, Randy Jackson and John R. Sellers.

In addition, professors from out-of-state schools Kevin Anderson and David Smith will also lecture. Eastern professors Joseph Heumann and Chris Mitchell will also speak.

Tickets for special screenings at Will Rogers Theatre are made available approximately a half-hour before each showing. These tickets are available on a first-come first-served basis. Will Rogers theatre is located at 705 Monroe Ave. just north of the square.

All events are free for patrons, but the tickets are only available as seating permits.

In addition to the film festival Booth Library will be holding an exhibit honoring President Abraham Lincoln.
