Campus Breifs: 'The Tempest' tempting

Shakespeare's romantic-comedic tale of an exiled Duke and his daughter marooned on an idyllic mysterious island haunted by spirits and sprites will play at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday in The Theatre of the Doudna Fine Arts Center.
The play is directed by Bill Kincaid. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for seniors and Eastern employees, and $5 for students.
Growing a garden
"Gardening 101: Growing and Managing a Garden to Eat Healthy Foods" will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Paris Room of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.
This event is in part with the "30 Days of Change: EIU Fights Hunger."
Mendelssohn's 200th anniversary
The Eastern Symphony Orchestra and East Central Illinois Youth Orchestra will pay tribute to a legendary composer with the "Mendelssohn 200th Anniversary" concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Dvorak Concert Hall in the Doudna Fine Arts Center.
Mendelssohn, a German composer, was born in 1809.
Tickets are $12 for the general public, $10 for senior citizens and Eastern employees, and $5 for students.
Room dedicated to former faculty
A dedication for the "E. Glendon Gabbard and Luciana Paquet Gabbard Green Room" in the Doudna Fine Arts Center will be held at 11:45 a.m. Saturday.
The Gabbards were faculty members at Eastern for years.
A tour of the center's theatre facilities will begin at 12:15 p.m.
Road closes for equipment delivery
Seventh Street - between Johnson Avenue and Grant Avenue, just east of Blair Hall - will be closed from 1 a.m. Monday through 10 p.m. Tuesday for delivery of equipment to the steam plant.
