With only four matches left, the Panthers are now 10-18 overall and though they are only 3-12 in the Ohio Valley Conference, the team is showing great promise for next season.
Unlike earlier on in the season, the Panthers are winning at least one of the two games most weekends and even in the matches they have lost, they are coming painstakingly close to winning.
The Panthers are producing exciting volleyball down the homestretch, and through all the injuries, losing streaks, and traveling, the team is feeling good.
"We're playing really well off of each other," junior outside hitter Kelsey Orr said.
Some of the Panthers are even being acknowledged for their above-par performances such as sophomore libero Brittany Wallace who was awarded the OVC Defensive Player of the Week honor for the last week in the month of October.
Obstacles Behind Them
At this stage of the game, the troubles that the Panthers have seen over the course of the season are just dust in the wind.
There are only four games left, the team is winning and are excited to end out the season at Lantz Arena.
"I think it is every team's dream to end out the year with a six game home stand," junior outside hitter Alex Zwettler said.
The Panthers are flying high and are looking to snag a couple more victories before it is all said and done.
"Hopefully we will win a few more the next couple weeks," head coach Alan Segal said.
Winning and Competing
The Panthers have found some success over the course of the last few weeks, and almost as important as winning is the fact that in the games they have lost, they have competed. The Panthers lost against Murray State Saturday; however, the Panthers won the first two sets, and had three players finish in double figures.
At the beginning of the season, this might not have happened.
"We just need to learn how to finish out matches," Zwettler said.
The Panthers will have four more chances to finish out a few matches and tack on to their win total for the season.
