Eight contestants tried to consume the 96 grilled cheese sandwiches made for the competition.
The competition's rules were that the contestants would have 10 minutes to eat the most grilled cheese sandwiches possible.
The contestants had the option of taking a drink during the competition.
The contestants started to trickle in one by one, a buzz started to build.
People started gathering around the contestant table to check out the excitement.
Spectators' jaws dropped as the contestants faced a new come monstrous triple-decker cart filled with grilled cheese sandwiches.
People making their predictions filled the cafeteria.
People talked about the four trash buckets behind the table being there just in case a contestant could not hold the devoured sandwiches.
Eight hungry contestants waited anxiously as two plates of five-grilled cheese were piled in front of them as the clock started.
The contestants realized the challenge in the beginning as they started feeling affects from the sandwiches and slowed down.
A Carman eighth floor resident took his stance on the far left side of the competitor's table and never seemed to slow down.
Some newfound fans refilled his Mountain Dew as he was leading the pack.
The crowd knew this competitor had won before the contest ended even when he showed several signs of fatigue.
The competitor's eight grilled cheeses gave him the grilled cheese eating champion title, while his seven opponents ate 24.
He fell short of the eat-offs record of 12.
