In Wednesday's edition of The Daily Eastern News, Richard Norton Smith was misidentified. He is a scholar-in-residence at George Mason University in Washington, D.C.
Also, the 13th Amendment is separate from the Emancipation Proclamation and was first proposed in 1864.
