Students, faculty, staff, alumni and local residents are invited to participate in the seventh annual Panther Service Day on Saturday.

Panther Service Day 2009 will begin with an EIU/Coles County Community Brunch, sponsored by the EIU Alumni Association, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the front of Old Main, followed by an opening ceremony. In case of inclement weather, the brunch will be moved inside. From noon to 4 p.m., participants will be assigned specific service projects.

Volunteers are asked to designate the category of their interest: elderly care/support, nature/conservation, relief/disaster support or youth development/outreach.

Those interested in volunteering or attending these events should contact Ryan Kerch, student vice president for student affairs, at rmkerch@eiu.edu or 581-7673.

Comedy group perform last show of semester

Lunchbox Voodoo, a sketch comedy group on campus, will perform at 9 p.m. today in the University Ballroom of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.

The group writes and performs original scripts featuring fictional stories and characters with unusual situations.

The cost is $3 to attend the group's last show of the semester.
