Campus Briefs: Volunteers wanted for Panther Service Day

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and local residents are invited to participate in the seventh annual Panther Service Day on Saturday.
Panther Service Day 2009 will begin with an EIU/Coles County Community Brunch, sponsored by the EIU Alumni Association, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the front of Old Main, followed by an opening ceremony. In case of inclement weather, the brunch will be moved inside. From noon to 4 p.m., participants will be assigned specific service projects.
Volunteers are asked to designate the category of their interest: elderly care/support, nature/conservation, relief/disaster support or youth development/outreach.
Those interested in volunteering or attending these events should contact Ryan Kerch, student vice president for student affairs, at rmkerch@eiu.edu or 581-7673.
Comedy group perform last show of semester
Lunchbox Voodoo, a sketch comedy group on campus, will perform at 9 p.m. today in the University Ballroom of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.
The group writes and performs original scripts featuring fictional stories and characters with unusual situations.
The cost is $3 to attend the group's last show of the semester.

Applications for Homecoming royalty available
The 2009 Homecoming Elections Committee is currently accepting royalty applications for King and Queen, and Prince and Princess for Eastern's "Royal Blue" Coronation. Applications can be picked up at the Student Activity Center. For more information, contact Homecoming elections chair Erica Burns at erburns@eiu.edu.

Come out to the 7th ANNUAL Panther Service Day this weekend! This is THE longest-standing outreach event Student Government has ever organized. Not only does the event support and reach out to the Charleston/Mattoon community, but students, faculty, staff, and community members have a chance to work side-by-side to improve the quality of life in our community.
