The Eastern women's golf team will take to the links this weekend in their final tune-up before the Ohio Valley Conference Championship as they participate in the Loyola of Chicago Invitational at the Wilmette Golf Course Sunday and Monday.

The women's team finished in seventh place out of 14 teams in the Bradley Classic last weekend with junior Katie Imburgia finishing in seventh place with a 158 (plus-14).

Imburgia was named the OVC Female Golfer of the Week for her efforts.

She said she was shocked when she found out that she had won the honor.

"I guess I played well enough," she said. "I am flattered."

She said she had no idea she had won the award until Eastern head coach Mike Moncel told her at the Scholar Athlete Banquet last night.

"He came up and asked me for my e-mail," Imburgia said. "I asked him why and he said (Eastern athletic director) Barbara Burke wanted to e-mail me. I asked him if I was in trouble and he told me I had won golfer of the week. I had no idea."

Imburgia said they want to go out with a bang.

"We have two seniors on the team, and it would mean a lot to us and them if we played well the rest of the way," Imburgia said. "It would also give us a boost knowing we had done well going into out next tournament. Hopefully we do well because I want to win."

Chicago State, Cleveland State, Loyola, Wisconsin Green Bay, Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis, Lewis and Northern Illinois are all expected to play in the two-day event.
