Eastern senior centerfielder Brett Nommensen earned national honors this week.

He was named the Pro-Line Athletic National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Tuesday.

Nommensen was also named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season Monday. He joins Murray State's Daniel Hill (March 10) as OVC players recognized by the NCBWA this season.

The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from every NCAA Division I conference each week and names winners on Tuesdays throughout the season.

Nommensen also earned a spot in the College Baseball Foundation's weekly National All-Star Lineup.

Nommensen was previously honored on March 18 after leading Eastern to the team title at South Florida's Bulls Baseball Classic in Tampa. Sponsored by Diamond Sports, the CBF recognizes approximately 15-20 players each week for excellence on the field.

Imburgia earns league honors

Eastern senior Katie Imburgia earner her first OVC Female Golfer of the Week honors.

Imburgia fired rounds of 76 and 82 to finish at 158 (+14) at the weather-shortened Bradley Invitational Sunday. That performance was good enough to place her seventh of 87 golfers, just nine strokes behind the individual medalist.

Track athletes earn conference honors

Red-shirt junior sprinter Violet Nwordu, junior jumper Ian Winston and red-shirt freshman sprinter Zye Boey all earned OVC honors this week.

Boey was tabbed the OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week, and Nwordu was tabbed the OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week. Winston was the OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week.
