Asian Heritage Month is presenting a film and discussion with "Golden Venture: A Journey into America's Immigration Nightmare" at 5 p.m. in Lumpkin Hall, Room 2030.
The film follows the legal travails and eventual fates of a group of illegal Chinese immigrants shipwrecked on Long Island in the 1990s.
The film is a window into the constant circulation of Chinese laborers to and from the U.S., showing both the attraction of the U.S. and the sacrifice it entails.
Hui Li, economics professor, will lead the discussion.
