Campus Briefs: Asian Heritage Month brings alumni to campus

"Asian Heritage Month EIU Alumni Talk" will be held at noon today in the Charleston-Mattoon Room in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.
Yi Luo and Timothy Martin, Eastern alumni, will share their stories of professional and personal development during and beyond their years at Eastern while they moved back and forth between the two sides of the Pacific.
Luo is PhD candidate in Mass Communication at the University of Maryland and will start teaching as an assistant professor at Montclair State University in fall 2009. Tim Martin is a reporter for The Wall Street Journal.
Presentation to discuss teaching abroad opportunities
As part of Asian Heritage Month, an information workshop "Teaching and Studying in East Asia" will be held at 3 p.m. in the Charleston-Mattoon Room in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.
The workshop will discuss the many opportunities to teach English to students in other countries, especially in Asia. The panelists, Steve Gump, Timothy Martin and Chris Forman, have all taught English abroad and found that they could earn a living doing so.
Deadline to withdraw approaches
The deadline to withdraw from second-half-term course with a 'W' is Thursday.
