'Writer's Block' features student talent

The play "Writer's Block" will feature the acts of three writers, who are trying to come up with a marketable film idea by the end of the day.
Ceci Brinker, director of student life, said Paul Teresi, the writer of the play, contacted University Board, and the play was put together through UB comedy.
"University Board co-sponsored the play because a number of his other plays Teresi has done were very successful, and they are low-budget too, so that is a plus," said Matt Caponera, the UB comedy coorinater.
Caponera said there are only six people in Teresi's play.
"It's a comedy about three struggling writers who must come up with an idea for a film by the end of their workday," Caponera said.
"What makes it even funnier is the fact that two of the main characters, John and Ashley, are ex-fiancés and Brian, the third writer, tries to make everything civil between them while they all rush to keep their jobs."
Caponera said it seems like the play should be entertaining.
"Everyone in the play is a student," he said. "We are not just hiring a professional comedian, we are getting students involved in the process this time."
The play will take place at 7 p.m. today and Saturday in the 7th Street Underground of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.
Caponera will open the show on Friday night with some of his stand-up comedy, and Eastern guitar player John Lamm will open the show on Saturday.
Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
