Campus Briefs: Kick Butts Day to fight tobacco with walk/run

Saturday will mark the second annual Kick Butts Day 5k walk/run and picnic. Kick Butts Day is a Health Education Resource Center event to give the community to stand out, speak up and seize control in the fight against tobacco.
Local businesses and vendors will have booths filled with food, games and information regarding tobacco.
Registration for the walk/run begins at 8:30 a.m. and is $10 for students and $20 for all others.
Activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Charleston's Morton Park on Lincoln Avenue.
Registration forms for the event and additional information about all of the day's activities are available at the Health Education Resource Center Web site.
Showcase demonstrates student talent
The Showcase of the Exploration and Inquiry of Undergraduates will be on display from 1 to 4 p.m. today in the Doudna Fine Arts Center. The showcase demonstrates some of the many student accomplishments in research, service, scholarship and creative activity. Nearly 200 students and more than 100 faculty have worked together on the projects and presentations on exhibit.
Residents to clean up campus
A Student Community Service will be available with a campus cleanup from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Residents of Lawson Hall will meet in the South Quad near the flagpole at 11 a.m. to help clean up litter around campus.
Groups will disperse to cover grounds spanning from Pemberton to Carman.
