Campus Briefs: Contest raises $328 for victims

The Asian-American Association's fundraiser raised $328.50 to help with costs associated with the deaths of the three Eastern international students killed March 21. In addition, University of Illinois spokesperson Tom Hardy said that a U of I individual would offer 50 cents for every dollar generated at the contest - bringing the total of Monday's efforts to nearly $500.
The cost to send the graduate students is about $60,000. Contestants paid $3 each to participate in the contest to see who could eat the most Ramen Noodles in three minutes. Persons wishing to donate can make online donations at by clicking here, or send checks, made payable to the Eastern International Programs Restricted Gift Fund, to EIU's VPBA Office, Old Main, Room 1140.

As part of Greek Week, a canned food drive will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today in the Grand Ballroom of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union The donations will result in a sculpture of cans.
