But Walters pulled his left hamstring during the 40-yard dash at Northwestern's Pro Day Thursday in Evanston.
"I'm just hoping I didn't slow at the end," Walter said. "It just popped. It is the same one I pulled sophomore year in spring football."
Walter said he would not be able to start running until the middle of April.
"The scouts told me to keep my head up," Walters said.
He said having teammates Jeff Sobol and Ke'Andre Sams at Northwestern helped with moral support and with people to talk to on the way back to Charleston.
While Eastern's Pro Day is at 11 a.m. today in Lantz Fieldhouse or O'Brien Stadium, Walters went to Northwestern because Purdue, Ohio State and Michigan are having Pro Day today.
Walter only not able to participate in the cone drills. But he was able to do the bench press, the vertical jump and the broad jump and ran the first 40-yard dash.
"It was kind of fast-paced," Walters said. "It's not the end of the world. I was able to do the majority of the workouts."
Walters now has to wait from teams if he can perform personal workouts until Draft Day on April 25 and 26.
Brian Martin, founder and head trainer at TEST Sports in Martinsville, N.J., worked with Walters.
"He's very hungry to prove that he can play at the next level," Martin said. "I think he's going to have a long NFL career."
Walters already took the Wonderlic test when he was in El Paso, Texas, when he played in the Texas vs. The Nation Collegiate All-Star Game.
Walters had 1 1/2 sacks in the game with a sack in the fourth quarter against Virginia Tech's Sean Glennon.
Walters' workout
- Bench press: 29 reps
- Vertical jump: 32 inches
- Broad jump: 10 feet, 6 1/2 inches

I saw Pierre Walters at the Texas vs. Nation all star game practices.
Pierre has real good upside. He has the potential to play at 280
and be a DE in a 4-3 set. (Continued…)
