While most Eastern students will spend their Spring Break at home or at an ideal vacation spot, Eastern athletes will be busy.
Softball opens up Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend against Tennessee State on Friday and Saturday. They play Drake at home for a doubleheader on Tuesday, travel to Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis for a doubleheader on Wednesday and then return to host Tennessee Martin on March 21 and 22 at Williams Field for a three-game series.
The Eastern baseball team plays South Florida, Bethune-Cookman and No. 10 Oklahoma this weekend in Tampa, Fla. The baseball team will get to enjoy a little bit more of Florida as they play Indiana and Bradley in Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Then they close out Spring Break with a trip to Morehead, Ky., to open up OVC play against Morehead State on March 21 and 22.
The Eastern men's and women's tennis teams take on arch-rival Western Illinois at noon today as the teams host their first home matches of the season at Darling Courts. The Eastern men's tennis team plays EKU at 11 a.m. on March 21 in Richmond, Ky., and they play Morehead State at 11 a.m. on March 22 in Morehead, Ky. The Eastern women's tennis team plays EKU at 2 p.m. on March 21 in Richmond, Ky., and they play Morehead State at 11 a.m. on March 22 at in Morehead, Ky.
In addition, red-shirt freshman Zye Boey and David Holm will be competing at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National championships this weekend at Texas A&M. Boey and Holm have a chance to bring home individual national titles and possibly bring home All-American or All-America honors.
Eastern's Pro Day for football seniors who want a future in the NFL is today at O'Brien Stadium or Lantz Fieldhouse.
The women's golf team will also be competing during Spring Break and travel to the Samford Invitational.
While Eastern athletes may be busy competing during their break, at least they won't have school to worry about.
