Letter to the Editor: Support not there for extended library hours

The March 11 editorial, "Extension of library hours inefficient according to survey," was absolutely right.
The research the Academic Affairs committee yielded, through a survey and a forum held on March 10, was insubstantial toward supporting further work by the committee.
As student representatives, we would be violating our duty by pursuing an issue the students have indicated, both actively and passively, they don't truly support.
While people have said they support library hours, not enough proved this through actions.
Our survey and our forum did not even come close to garnering enough student support, despite considerable promotion by our committee and front-page coverage by The Daily Eastern News.
I apologize to those who voiced support for the committee's work and wanted changes to be made, but an initiative that could cost potentially thousands of dollars needs action more than it needs words.
