3/22 Update: Three Eastern students killed in car crash

Three Eastern graduate students were killed early Saturday in the town of Des Peres, Mo.

Anusha Anumolu, 23, Anitha Lakshmi, 23, and Priya Muppavarapu, 22, were international students from India working on their master's degrees in informational technology.

The three were killed instantly when an off-duty St. Louis police officer driving in the wrong lane struck their vehicle, according to Sgt. Al Nothum of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Also in the car were driver Nitish Adusumilli, 27, of Ballwin, Mo., listed in fair condition at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis County and victim, Satya Chinta, 25, of Aurora, Ill., according to The Associated Press.

This is a very sad story. I have the utmost respect for cops as a VERY high percentage of them do what they can to protect and serve. But then there are the rest. (Continued…)
