Letter to the Editor: Eastern acted poorly regarding 'threat'
Issue date: 3/12/09 Section: Opinions
I felt I had to respond to the "threat" from Robert Walker.
My response is very simple.
What a stupid situation.
It looks like Eastern has a shoot first, ask questions later policy.
Did anyone happen to check his Facebook for information before banning him from campus?
Since "things are going down" is a rather common term, it seems to be just stupid of Eastern to take such drastic measures.
I know, someone will give me the "we live in such scary times" line, but, honestly, this just means people are wasting time instead of looking for real threats.
What's even dumber about the situation is there was nothing in particular that said it involved Eastern.
It only involved some paranoid person who, honestly, I'm more worried about than poor Robert.
If you think every time someone plans anything it is a threat, you should have your head examined.
Eastern has shown that they can't handle things discretely and maturely.
I'd be singing a different tune had he threatened Eastern, but he didn't.
He's been railroaded by a bunch of paranoid lunatics.
Sorry, but you'd have to be crazy to take every common term for doing something and believe it's a threat.
That's my two cents anyway.

Here are some of the posts that, as you say, don't mention Eastern...Maybe before you spout off you should research the facts. Do you honestly think that EIU is going to tell the DEN everything that they had on Mr. (Continued…)

Also, aren't there suppose to be many other quotes on his page that were deleted?
Just from what is available though, I believe the University made the right decision. (Continued…)
