The Residence Hall Association finalized plans for Siblings' Weekend 2009 at Thursday night's meeting at Ford Hall.
The "Wonderful World of Disney" is the theme this year as various residence halls participate and provide a weekend full of activities for students and their siblings.
Cody Martin, coordinator for sibling's weekend, said she believes this year's sibling weekend will be great.
"We have been planning this since October and have tried to gear it towards EIU student's brothers and sisters," said the junior psychology major. "My committee has worked pretty hard."
Some of the activities to take place this weekend are the "Mad Chad Taylor Chainsaw Juggler," a "Guitar Hero" contest and a scavenger hunt.
Martin said she encourages other students on campus to take part in this weekend events as well.
"We are all students on campus, and it just shows us coming together and that we are strong leaders and a strong community," she said.
Also during the meeting, RHA accepted nominations for executive board positions to be filled for next fall.
Elections will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday in Lawson Hall.
Karla Browning, programming and diversity coordinator for RHA, accepted the nomination for president.
Browning said it is an honor to be nominated for president and hopes to provide residents with great leadership.
"I think RHA has been led in a wonderful direction this year, and we should continue in that direction," said the sophomore family and consumer sciences major. "It will be an honor to continue to help lead these residents and guide them."
Justin Schuch, president of RHA, said he thinks the students have nominated strong candidates to fill the various positions next year.
"All of them are extremely capable of doing the job next year," he said. "I am sad they want to replace me, but they also know that I will be graduating this year so everyone knows I am going to be gone."
Schuch said overall he feels RHA has made many great changes for the student body that lives in the residence halls.
"I think the accomplishments we have made can speak for themselves," he said. "We have done more community services, an increase in attendance, and just an amazing turnout to the programs this year."
Also a survey will be distributed to student's e-mail account.
Temetria Hargett, adviser for RHA said the survey should be filled out by every student.
"This survey is going out to residents on campus on their opinion on Internet services that housing provides," she said.
Hargett said sometimes students are miserable and complain to the wrong person when it comes to Internet service.
"This will give us a better idea of how they are feeling in order to improve the service," she said.
