More than 850 tickets have been sold for the April 4 Lupe Fiasco concert in Lantz Arena.

On Monday, 520 were sold and 271 were sold Tuesday.

Tickets are only available to students this week for $10 each.

Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Monday and will be $20 each.

Students can only purchase tickets at the discounted price if they present their Panther Cards.

"So far, tickets have only been advertised to students," said Ceci Brinker, director of student life. "This number is only after two days."

Students can still buy tickets at the discounted price of $10 each next week, but Brinker suggests all students get their tickets this week.

"They should get their seats early on the floor because when they go on sale to the general public, it is first-come, first-serve," she said.

Sheila Hurley, University Board concerts coordinator, thinks these sales are a good start.

"I would advise students to get them soon because there is only a limited amount of floor seats," Hurley said.

There are 3,500 total tickets and about 800 floor seats.

Floor seating is standing room only, also known as festival seating.

There is reserved seating in the balcony.

Hurley thinks there will be some seats left over for the general public, but that the tickets are selling out pretty fast.

"I don't think there will be any floor seats left for the general public," Hurley said.

She said tickets will be on sale up until the show, or until tickets are sold out.

Students can purchase their tickets at the box office located in the Martin Luther King. Jr. University Union any time from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday this week.

The number for the box office is 581-5122.

Shwayze and "So You Think You Can Rap" winner Ian Winston will be the opening acts.

As for costs, Brinker said everything is still projected.

"We haven't finalized sound and lighting or all other support areas like crews," she said. "We will have finalized costs after the show."

Isn't "Buzzin'" just hella good? Especially that Will.I.AM remix. Hip hop reaches all cultures! You should also check out my boys, Nerve and DJ Arkitekt a new group out of Minneapolis that performs a hip-hop indie rock fusion with an album set drop this summer. (Continued…)
