Panther Briefs: Softball finishes 1-2 at tourney

The weather affected the Eastern softball team's schedule at the Kennesaw State Owl Classic on Friday and Saturday in Kennesaw, Ga.
The Panthers (8-4) were supposed to play two games Friday and a game Saturday, but ended up playing three games Saturday because of rain.
Eastern defeated North Carolina Central 11-2 in five innings in its final game of the tournament.
The Panthers lost to Southern Mississippi 5-3 earlier on Saturday. They were down 4-0 in the game. The Panthers also took a tough loss, 1-0, against Kennesaw State. The Owls scored the lone run in the bottom of the seventh.
Eastern returns to action at 4 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Indiana State at Williams Field for the team's home opener.
Women's tennis loses at Illinois State
The Eastern women's tennis team lost 6-1 against Illinois State Friday at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Normal.
The Panthers (3-6) picked up a win at No. 5 singles. Freshman Juliana Frey was the lone Panther to win.
Eastern returns to action at 5 p.m. Friday against Butler in Indianapolis.
