The Eastern women's soccer team has announced four recruits will join the program, signing National Letters of Intent.

Morgan Boudreau (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North), Kayla Doran (St. Charles, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy), Jessie Morgan (Aurora/Waubonsie Valley) and Jessica Taldone (Crystal Lake/Crystal Lake South) signed with the Panthers.

They will join a program that finished 3-14-2 and 3-4-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

A national search is currently underway to hire the program's third head coach. Tim Nowak, who held the position from 2005-2008, resigned in January to take an assistant position at Arkansas that is assembling a new coaching staff.

Softball team take on competition, fares well

Although the Eastern softball team has dropped its past two games, the Panthers (7-2) have put on quite a showing away from Charleston.

The Panthers started off the season 5-0 and won the Troy Cox Classic hosted by New Mexico State (14-3). The Aggies are receiving votes in the ESPN/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Poll.

The Panthers lost to South Carolina 4-2 in 11 innings and lost to James Madison 6-3 on Sunday in the South Carolina Gamecock Invitational. James Madison is 10-3.

South Carolina (11-1) is receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Division I poll, at the South Carolina Gamecock Invitational.

The Panthers will also play, according to this poll, No. 24 Southern Illinois and Kansas, which received votes, later this season.

The Panthers will play at the Owl Classic in Kennesaw, Ga., hosted by Kennesaw State this weekend. The Panthers will play Kennesaw State at 10 a.m. on Friday and Southern Mississippi at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Panthers will also play North Carolina Central at 10 a.m. on Saturday. They will also play an opponent in bracket play on Saturday at either 4 or 6:30 p.m.

Chance for another streak

Although, the Eastern women's basketball team lost to Murray State on Saturday in Lantz Arena, and Eastern's 20-game home-winning streak ended, the Panthers (20-8, 13-3 Ohio Valley Conference) will have a chance to start the winning streak again.

Since the Panthers won on Thursday night against Tennessee Martin, they will host a first round opponent in the OVC Tournament. This will be the second time in the history of the program the Panthers will host a first round game. Eastern's opponent is still to be determined, but the game will start at 7 p.m. on March 3 in Lantz Arena.
