The final candidate for the vice president for business affairs position is scheduled to interview today with Eastern's network of constituents.
Donald Chrusciel, the third candidate, has two open sessions from 4 to 4:50 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. scheduled in Booth Library, Conference Room 4440. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend the first open campus session and community members the second session in order to ask the candidate questions and participate in the decision process.
Chrusciel is the associate director of Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. He handles building renewal, renovation and construction plans both fiscally and physically, through financial planning and auxiliary operations, according to his resume.
Chrusciel also works with deferred maintenance on a direct level, an issue that has plagued Eastern's campus, according to the other two candidates, William Weber, associate vice president for academic affairs and interim university budget director at Eastern, and Patrick Kirby, associate vice president for financial affairs at St. Edward's University, Austin, Texas.
"Deferred maintenance is an issue that the vice president for business affairs will need to address," Weber said.
Chrusciel served as the director of general services and associate director of Facilities Planning and Management for University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. There, he was in charge of "project(ing), prepar(ing), and reconcil(ing) financials for all (Facilities Planning and Management) and General Services operations, generating revenue in excess of $2 million," according to his resume.
His educational background includes a doctorate in industrial education and technology and two master's degrees in management information systems/ operations management and in business administration. He holds his bachelor's degree in biochemistry.
Chrusciel will also interview Feb. 24, but in closed sessions.
Chrusciel was not available for comment.
