If the Eastern women's swim team wants to find success in the upcoming seasons, they will turn their attention to the development of four freshmen.
Tyler Crittenden, Story Pumphrey and Alex Green are three of the four freshman swimmers that have been making a difference this season.
These three freshmen along with junior Lauren Zillmer have combined to form Eastern women's most potent 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Their best relay time came at the House of Champions where they won in 1 minute, 38.82 seconds.
These freshmen have also been showing promising results during their individual relays.
Crittenden had a personal best time of 24.95 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle on Jan. 24 against Millikin, which ranks eighth in the Summit League.
Crittenden ranks fifth in the Summit League in the 20-yard backstroke with 27.96 seconds.
Pumphrey displayed her best times of the season at the House of Champions. Pumphrey placed first in the 50-, 100- and 200-yard free relay with times of 25.14, 56.49, and 1:59.95, respectively. Pumphrey also finished with a personal best time in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.53 against Millikin. She is also part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that ranked fourth in the conference.
Along with the success of Pumphrey and Crittenden, Green has also established herself as a consistent swimmer. Green has achieved new personal best times against Millikin and Valparaiso.
The last piece of the freshmen foursome is Nicole Sharp.
Eastern head coach Matt Bos believes that while red-shirted freshman diver Sharp has not been at full strength this season, she will certainly be a factor in the upcoming seasons.
"Nicole will take some time to develop, but with some hard work she has the talent to contribute a lot down the road," Bos said.
Sharp's best dive score is a 153.65 on six dives against Valparaiso.
With these freshmen on a team, the future looks bright for the Eastern women's swimming team.
