Campus Briefs: Spinning paintings open '09 Tarble Arts season

An exhibition of a series of silk-screened canvases that spin on the walls will be featured at Tarble Arts Center from today through Feb. 22. Paul Henry Ramirez, New York City artist and creator of the canvases, will open the exhibition with a talk at 7 p.m. tonight. A reception for the artist will follow. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
Booth Library offers tours
Booth Library is giving tours on how to locate materials and use the library's services. Tours are offered from now until Feb. 25 and are customized to meet the needs of those attending. Groups meet in the north entrance of Booth at 6 p.m. on Mondays, 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, and 5 p.m. on Wednesdays. Registration is not required, but groups of three or more are encouraged to call 581-6072 in advance.
Volunteer to honor Martin Luther King Jr.
Students, faculty and staff can participate in Eastern's Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Most service projects will last from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 19. For information on the projects, visit www.eiu.edu/~volunteer.
PAWS to be out of service
The PAWS on-line system will be unavailable from 5 p.m. on Friday until Monday. An e-mail sent campus wide said during that time, upgrades will be applied to various modules of Banner/PAWS.
