Campus Briefs: University Board to display student talents

University Board's Mainstage Committee is looking for student talent for their biweekly Open Mic Nights. Students are also needed for Spoken Word, which Mainstage is introducing to show off talent in poetry, short stories and comedy.

Applications are being accepted for So You Think You Can Rap, a rapping competition on Jan. 29. For information, contact Lauren Phillips at lcphillips@eiu.edu.


Job opportunities within University Board

University Board has vacancies in the Cultural Arts and Homecoming Elect coordinator positions. These positions are responsible for programming events and supervising committee members. Positions are also available on the Homecoming Committee, which help program and run events during Homecoming Week. Applications and information can be found online www.eiu.edu/~uboard/, or in the Student Activity Center, located on the second floor of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.


Audition to perform in spring plays

Open auditions for spring plays will be held today. Auditions start with registration at 6:30 p.m. in the concourse of the Doudna Fine Arts Center and will continue at 7 p.m. in The Theatre. Those auditioning will be required to perform two one-minute monologues of contrasting nature and provide a resume of theatrical credits. For more information, call 581-3121.


Eight open seats in Student Senate

Eastern's Student Government is accepting applications for eight open Student Senate seats. Applications are available in the Student Activities Center, Room 2070 in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union. Applications must be returned by 4 p.m. Jan. 27.
