Finalists named for business affairs post
One Eastern, two outside candidates to visit

Three finalists have been selected in the search for the next vice president for business affairs.
Jeff Cooley, who served as the vice president for business affairs since 1999, retired on Dec. 31.
President Bill Perry named Paul McCann, director of business services/treasurer, interim vice president for business affairs on Dec. 2. A permanent vice president for business affairs is anticipated to start by April 1.
William Weber of Charleston; Patrick Kirby of Buda, Texas; and Donald Chrusciel of Ames, Iowa were announced as finalists in a Friday press release.
The chair of the search committee received 39 applications for the position during the nationwide search.
Weber currently serves as associate vice president for academic affairs, director of Summer Sessions and interim university budget director at Eastern.
Patrick Kirby is the associate vice president for financial affairs at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas.
Chrusciel is the associate director of Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
All the candidates will visit Eastern for on-campus interviews.
Candidates will meet with different groups on campus including the Business Affairs Council, the Council of Chairs and an open session with faculty, students and staff.
Weber is scheduled for on-campus interviews on Feb. 11 and 12, with the open session at 4 p.m. Feb. 11.
Kirby will visit Eastern on Feb. 16 and 17. He will meet with faculty, staff and students at 4 p.m. Feb 16.
Chrusciel is scheduled for on-campus interviews on Feb. 23 and 24, meeting with faculty, students and staff at 4 p.m. Feb. 23.
The campus open sessions will be located in Booth Library, Room 4440.
The vice president for business affairs reports to Perry and serves on the President's Council and as treasurer of the Board of Trustees.
They are responsible for the supervision, coordination and administration of the Budget Office, Business Services, Information Technology Services, Human Resources, Facilities Planning and Management, Environmental Health and Safety, Records Management and broad areas of service related to these units.

EIU needs to look beyond its walls and stop the inbreeding and ladder-climbers. Enough said.
