Students and faculty get a slight postponement from the University Police Department about the new parking lot on the corner of Ninth Street and Garfield Avenue.
"Right now, without any signage, we won't be enforcing anything," said Lt. John Hatfill of UPD.
The new lot across from the Fine Arts East parking lot opened Monday.
Signs for the lot designating that it will be a staff and upperclassman lot are not complete yet, so anyone can currently park in the lot.
Hatfill said they hope to have the signs up within the next week or so.
He added people started parking at the new lot Monday afternoon.
The lot offers an additional 34 spaces on Eastern's campus and will be called the Buzzard H-3 lot.
The parking lot was slated to open Oct. 1, but rain and demolition work during the summer slowed construction.
