One more senator will be added this week to the Student Senate.

The new senator will be filling a spot for another senator that resigned this semester because of academic reasons, said Student Senate Speaker Isaac Sandidge.

"It depends on how the semester goes if she comes back or not," Sandidge said. "She was a good senator."

He added he hoped that all the students, who applied to the senate, might not have gotten a job, but would still be active in senate committees.

"Most of them said in the interviews that they would serve as non-senator committee members," Sandidge said. "All committees should have a certain numbers of non-senators.

However, this could change because we don't know if any of the students actually meant this in the interviews."

Sandidge said this could be a good way for non-senators to "get their feet wet" and get them prepared for when they applied next time.

The proposal to change the Student Action Team out-of-date bylaws is coming up for a vote this week and all committee assignments for senator members is done.

Each senate member had to pick a committee to be a part of at last week's meeting.

"Hopefully, we will vote on the proposal this week and committees should start getting together with council chairs kicking in soon," Sandidge said.

Sandidge will get together weekly with all committees to discuss ideas.

The Senate Mentorship Program that Sandidge wants to initiate for new senators will start now that all the committees are set up as well.

Apportionment Board will probably have their first meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. if the room the board wants is available.

"Apportionment Board has priority, so unless something else happens, we hope to see the meeting in there this week," Sandidge said.
