Campus Brief: Ticket Deadline for banquet approaches

The deadline to purchase tickets for the Latino Heritage Month Banquet is Sept. 5. Tickets may be purchased in the Gateway office, 2170 Blair Hall. Admission is $8 for students and $15 for adults. The banquet will feature a performance by Hector Silveira y su Orquestra and a DJ. For more information, call 581-5027.


Faculty Senate to provide faculty lunch

Faculty Senate will sponsor a faculty luncheon at noon today in the Grand Ballroom of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.

Lunch will be served at noon with programming starting at 12:30 p.m. President Bill Perry will speak to the faculty as part of the event. For more information, call 581-7650.


Crystal Meth coalition to host public meeting

The Coles County Meth Awareness Coalition will conduct its monthly meeting at 5 p.m. today at the education center in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, 1000 Health Center Drive, Mattoon.

The coalition will discuss state budget cuts and how the group can help. Pamela Irwin, executive director of the Central East Alcoholism and Drug Council, and Kevin Davis, healthcare/drug court coordinator of the CEAD Council, will speak at the meeting.

Auditions for EIU Dancers this month

The EIU Dancers will hold auditions at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the McAfee Gym Dance Studio.

Anyone interested in auditioning should pick up an application this week from McAfee Gymnasium, Room 1110 and return it before the auditions.

Dancers will need to bring dance shoes, or they can dance barefoot. For more information, contact Jeanna McFarland, director of the EIU Dancers at 581-7591.
