The Cook's Take

The process Verge Editor Stacy Smith to make this week's recipe

This very berry treat is a sweet way to start spring.

It's really easy to make and then best part is the fresh fruit topping.

A tip when making this recipe is knead out the dough with your hands, because it's too soft to roll. (I learned this the hard way.)

One of the great things about this recipe is the fruit can be altered to your liking.

For a sweeter, less tart treat, try peaches, grapes, apples and strawberries.

This treat can be made with inexpensive toppings like apples and oranges or even frozen mixed berries.

If you're not a huge cool whip fan, you can substitute it with cream cheese.

I personally like to mix a little cream cheese with the cool whip to thicken it up.

This sweet is very filling because of the thickness of the cookie and makes many servings.

It's great to make if you have roommates who always steal your food because it gets soggy after a couple days and needs to be eaten up quickly.
