Students will be able to stay later and study longer at the Gregg Triad Computer Lab next week.

The student computer lab, which houses 60 computers, will be open continuously from 2 p.m. Sunday until 10 p.m. Dec. 16.

Finals week is the busiest time at Eastern's student computer labs, specifically the Gregg Triad Lab, said Michael Hoadley, assistant vice president for academic affairs for technology.

"You go down there just about anytime now and every computer is being used," he said. "It's a good problem to have."

A total of nearly 800 computers are available for student use at more than 20 computer labs at Eastern. Nearly 640 of these computers have been funded by students' computer technology fee, Hoadley said.

The Writing Center will not be open during finals week because the staff of eight graduate assistant tutors will be taking final exams.

Students needing help with writing-related homework or questions will need to meet with their professors, said Shannon Littleton, a tutor at the center.

Booth Library will extend its hours before finals week. It will be open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Dec. 10.

The library will also host a "snack break" in the evening on Dec. 13 offering popcorn and lemonade for students studying in the library, said Peg Manley, Booth Library administrative aide.

Booth Library will be open from noon until 1 a.m. on Dec. 11. The library will be open from 8 a.m. until 1 a.m. Dec. 12 through Dec. 15, and from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Dec. 16.
