Today, those students who haven't bailed out early will leave Eastern to go all over the hemisphere, mainly south, to sit on the beach and drink.

What a waste of time.

Students would be far better off spending the week reading or doing something constructive.

Instead, many will be living a life of incoherence and decadence. A week of wet T-shirt contests, body shots and Girls Gone Wild videos rather than chess, reading and yoga.

It's a shame that spring break has turned into the spring week of sin. In addition, when one thinks of it, the week isn't even during spring. Instead of coming back rejuvenated and ready to attack their classes to really bring up their GPAs, students will return exhausted from constant bed-hopping and with brains worn out from excessive alcohol consumption.

This week would be an excellent opportunity for students to write all their papers that are due at the end of the semester. Instead, they will waste away this opportunity to get ahead and have to cram their papers at the end of April.

As the great thinker and master of all knowledge Jerry Falwell says . . . ahh forget it, enjoy your break whether you are just going home or going to Cancun to live a week of drunkenness.

Upon return, all students and faculty will have five weeks of classes followed by a week of finals without any three-day weekends.

Only making it worse will be the ever improving weather tugging at you to put down the book and go outside while two tests and three term papers hang over your head.

Spring break is for you to either get back on track, sit around doing nothing or celebrate like its 2099.
