Is EIU Pride physically and verbally sheltered from prejudices on campus since its founding in 1992? Aiden Ethington, President for Pride, said that he and Pride members have never really encountered any prejudice students on campus. Nick Canaday, Social Director for Pride, said Pride gives people a sense of wellbeing and allows them to have a community to fit in with. (2) comments

Column: First lady leads beyond D.C.

A role model, in my mind, is someone you can look up to because their actions, behaviors and words motivate those around them. I believe the First Lady Michelle Obama is not only a role model for me, but is also becoming the new face for African American women. (0) comments

After watching the video several times, many contrasting thoughts raced through my head. The first was "Wow, I used to fight like that," and the second one was "Why does the inner city youth always resort to violence to solve everything?" Shedding light on domestic abuse

Domestic abuse is any violence or physical abuse toward one's spouse or domestic partner. Many people are faced with this issue daily. The most apparent forms of domestic violence are physical violence and sexual assaults. Threats to commit them are signs that allow others to become aware of the problem. (1) comment

Rain did not slow down the 20th annual Take Back the Night march Oct. 1 at the Campus Pond Pavilion. Hundreds of students of all races and walks of life came out for the vigil to show they do not want sexual assault, domestic violence, racism and homophobia to continue in their community. Successful Teaching Relative to Overcoming Negative Generalities is a mentoring program for males on campus. The purpose of S.T.R.O.N.G is to stimulate the minds of underrepresented male students at Eastern Illinois University and enhance their abilities to overcome challenges that come along. (0) comments
