McNamara died on June 12, 2001, when she was raped and murdered by former Eastern student Anthony Mertz in her apartment near Eastern. Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, was diagnosed with cancer and forced to retire; so the school decided to let him have his last lecture, which was a culmination of what he had learned over the years. Students interested in vegetarianism should educate themselves before making a promise to no longer include meat in their diets. Sarah Allen, nutrition coordinator for the Health Education Resource Center, said people who want to become vegetarians should not do it on their own until they are mature enough. (6) comments
