Swope returns for rededication ceremony

Former Dean of Family and Consumer Sciences will travel from Texas to visit Eastern this weekend in celebration of her 89th birthday as well as the rededication of the Doudna Fine Arts Center. Many faculty and former faculty members believe Mary Ruth Swope was a very positive and energetic administrator during her time at Eastern. (0) comments

Ad Hoc Committee investigating effects of having another diverse class

This year, issues of the cultural diversity course requirements have been discussed among faculty, students and administration. Kathleen Bower, chair of the council on academic affairs, said the discussions have not come to a conclusion. Because this is an ongoing issue, CAA decided to create an Ad Hoc Committee to the board to investigate the issue. (0) comments

Apportionment Board unanimously approved the $1,400 line-item transfer to University Board Thursday night. The funds would be moved from UB's payroll to an unallocated budget, which would be used for UB marketing. The funds would be used for printing and toner supply costs. (0) comments

A memorial service will be held for English professor Graham Lewis at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church, 411 Jackson Ave. Lewis died on Tuesday. He began teaching at Eastern in 1993. He won many honors including two Academy of American Poets' Prizes and The Kenneth Patchen Award. (0) comments

After years of planning and constructing, the Doudna Fine Arts Center will be rededicated this weekend with a series of events. Doudna is Eastern's newest architectural landmark, designed by Antoine Predock. It opened this past semester. Doctor says Bonnstetter was sleepwalking

Updated 4:18 p.m. Oct. 24 Dr. Rosalind Cartwright testified Friday that Mark Bonnstetter was sleepwalking when he entered a former neighbor's home during the early morning of Nov. 25, 2006. Cartwright, who recently retired from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, evaluated Bonnstetter after a June 2007 medical referral. (5) comments

Bonnstetter added he was "confused" when he awoke.
