An electrical appliance near paper and plastic products caused the fire inside a concession stand at Charleston High School Thursday night. Charleston Fire Chief Kris Phipps said an appliance either overheated or malfunctioned. The school district's insurance company is testing two of the appliances to check for possible malfunctions, he said. (0) comments

"Student Action Team is a student lobbying organization that goes to Springfield to lobby for what students want," said Eric Wilber, chair of the committee and student executive vice president for student senate. President Bill Perry denied the request to try and change the drinking age from 21 to 18. "I believe 21 is the appropriate age for the consumption of alcohol," Perry said. This proposal is called the Amethyst Initiative. It was launched in July and is made up by chancellors and presidents of universities. (0) comments
