Thanksgiving break is less than five days away and I couldn't be more excited. Not because it's the first time I'll be home since school started, or because I can catch up on sleep or even because of the pecan pie, but because of the traditions. This Friday when everyone is packing up their cars to go home, I'll be taking the train down to Carbondale and driving another hour to the southernmost tip of Illinois to take part in a Steele family tradition: Deer season.

When I sit back and look at how people react to the idea of same-sex marriage, I feel like I'm gazing back into the time of Neanderthals. In no way can I understand how we as a society fail to see the lack of justice applied to preventing couples of the same sex from engaging in the union of holy matrimony.

Contrary to popular belief, hookah bars are not a safe alternative to cigarette smoking. In fact, hookah smoking poses just as much risk (if not more) to the health of the smoker as well as those in the same vicinity. Many advocates of hookah smoking will tell you that there is no tar in hookah smoke; they will also tell you that there is less nicotine.
