Freshman English teaching major Sam Clark walked up to the Wall of Hate Monday and wrote the word "freak."

"I tried to think of the one thing I have been called that was the most offensive," Clark said. "I was going through a phase where I was really into metal music, and I walked past a pastor one day and he called me a freak and told me I was going to hell.

Starting strictly as a social networking fad, No-Shave November has united beard-growers everywhere.

There are only a few certain rules to follow: the last day to shave is Oct. 30, because one must start off with a clean-shaven face, and cannot shave until the last day of November.

Students were welcomed to the jungle at Pride's seventh-annual Diva Drag Show Monday, where six professional drag queens and a king showed off wigs, skin and leopard prints. Kirstin Bowns, vice president of EIU Pride and event organizer, stalled the audience during a 30-minute delay before the show, which nearly sold out.

Furloughs a potential for university's future

President Bill Perry submitted a draft furlough policy to the Council on University Planning and Budget, as he stated in a campuswide e-mail Friday. As warranted by financial conditions including revenue shortfalls, reductions in state appropriations, or other financial emergencies, the university may implement furloughs as a temporary cost-saving measure,î the policy states.

Health Service administered 700 dosages of the H1N1 vaccine during the on-campus clinic Tuesday, according to Sheila Baker, medical director for Health Service. Baker said 1,300 doses are left for today's clinic from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center.
