Well, dear reader, here we go again. It has been brought to my attention via The Daily Eastern News Web site that many people did not quite like my last column. That is fine. I like all criticism, constructive or otherwise. However, it was intended to be a humorous column, not particularly meant to be all that serious.

Updated 12:21 p.m.: Jacqueline Moore, Eastern women's basketball assistant coach, died late Wednesday night.

Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers confirmed at 12:05 a.m. Thursday that Moore, who was entering her third season with the team, collapsed while working out and died.

Schniers could not give any additional information about her death, but said an autopsy would be performed Thursday in Springfield to determine the cause of death.

When news broke early Thursday that Eastern women's basketball assistant coach Jackie Moore died at the age of 28, it visibly shook the athletic department. It's not uncommon for the numerous teams around campus to become close during the course of the players' athletic careers.

A memorial service for the late Jacqueline Moore is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Lantz Arena. Moore died late Wednesday at the age of 28 after collapsing while working out. Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers confirmed that Moore died at 9:44 p.m. Wednesday after being rushed to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

When J.D. Miller graduated from ISU on Oct. 16, he knew it was a big deal.

He found out Wednesday that other people think it's a big deal, too.

The Eastern athletic department was in a state of shock Thursday after learning about the death of women's basketball assistant coach Jackie Moore. When Eastern swimmers Tim Mathieu and Lauren Zillmer arrived for the start of their 6 a.m. practice, everything seemed to be business as usual.

Nine contestants from Indiana State University went head-to-head in the nail-biting competition of Miss ISU 2010 Sunday night in University Hall auditorium.

Taylor Schaffer, junior communication major, walked away as the new Miss ISU. She will go on to compete at the state level.
